Spring Lecture:

Ashridge’s Gardens by Mick Thompson, Ashridge Estate Manager.
There also will be a short talk by Janet Fuller about the 2020 Programme

Spring Visit - The Dell at Bucklebury Place
Upper Bucklebury:
Thursday 23rd April
A Spring Garden created in 1900 and the subject of BGT's first research project. Includes tea. Size of group is limited to 24.
£10 for members; £13 for non-members

Garden events and Coronavirus:
We have all been looking forward to getting out into gardens this Spring as part of our 2020 Programme, now severely affected by Covid -19. With the health and wellbeing of all our members uppermost in our minds we have had to cancel the April - July visits. We will closely monitor best advice from the Government and keep you up to date on the website about future events. You might like to also keep an eye on the National Trust, RHS & NGS websites for information as the situation evolves.

Ashridge House - Gardens Tour
Tuesday 12 May
Guided tour of Ashridge Management College Gardens. This is a follow-up to our Spring Lecture of these Grade II* 19C gardens. Includes tea. Limited to 30 people.
£12 for members; £15 for non-members
Kirby House, Inkpen - Gardens Tour
Friday 5th June
The Astor family home features a walled garden, lily pond garden, formal borders, and a terrace designed by Harold Pinto. We will be escorted by Lady Katherine Astor and her gardener. Includes tea and biscuits. Size of group is limited to 30.
£18 for members; £20 for non-members

Earlstone Manor, Burghclere - Gardens Tour
Wednesday 15th July
Privately owned and rarely open to the public, Earlstone Manor’s unique gardens have been carefully recreated over the last 30 years to reflect an Elizabethan Jacobean garden. Our afternoon visit will include tea and cake in the 16th century barn, followed by an introduction by the owner Mr Bruce Ginsberg. Group limited to 30.
£18 for members; £20 for non-members


Cliveden
Monday 17th August
This visit to the National Trust property includes a tour of the house and gardens. Size of group is limited to 36 (split into 2 groups). Tea is not included.
£6 for members and non-members.
Non NT members also pay £14 to NT on the day.
Crockmore House, Henley - Gardens Tour
Thursday, 17th September
Afternoon visit. Julia Kirkham’s garden was designed by Christopher Bradley-Hole in 1999 and has matured into a modern classic. Includes tea.
£19 for members; £22 for non-members


Autumn Lecture & AGM:
Friday 9th October in Purley Barn
Sanctity, Vice and Virtue. The History of a Thames Valley Manor House, Ben Viljoen
A lecture about Purley Hall.
