The Factory in a Garden: Picturesque and Pictorial Landscapes for Labour in the early 20th Century.
Dr. Helena Chance

Following the formal AGM and light refreshments, our Autumn Lecture this year will be given by Dr. Helena Chance.  Helena is Associate Professor of Design Studies at Buckinghamshire New University, and is a design historian with a special interest in how people experience designed landscapes. 


This lecture is based on her recently published book “The Factory in a Garden”.  Helena will be looking at how offices and factories have incorporated outdoor spaces into their workplaces and follow the progress of the factory garden from the industrial revolution to the Second World War. 

Time: Refreshments will be served from 7.30pm for those attending the lecture, which will be preceded by our AGM starting at 7pm.
