June Garden Visit to Kirby House, Inkpen
Monday, 28th June at 2pm
Please be understanding if there are last minutes alterations in the arrangements for this visit due to the imposition of COVID restrictions. We will make whatever changes are needed to remain in compliance with changing government pandemic restrictions.
We are pleased to offer this opportunity to see the gardens of Kirby House, the Astor family home. The gardens complement the Grade II” listed house, built in the 18th century with later additions (not included in the visit). The gardens include a walled garden, lily pond garden, formal borders and a terrace designed by Harold Peto (1854 – 1933) who is a well-known British architect, landscape architect and garden designer. His best-known gardens are his home at Iford Manor, near Bath; Buscot Park and West Dean House. We will be escorted by Lady Katherine Astor and her gardener. The tour will include afternoon tea and biscuits if COVID restrictions permit.
There is a maximum number of 30 people for this event so please book early!
NOTE: There are uneven surfaces and stairs, so stout shoes will be required. A map and instructions will be provided to those people who book. Parking is available in a field but there are limited toilet facilities.
Cost: Tickets are £17 for members and £20 for non-members.
Queries: Please contact Janet by email at bgtmembership@gmail.com.
